It is unfortunate that investors often rely on their broker for tracking their performance. However, Brokers typically use a simple way of calculating ROI and they don't factor in dividends, brokerage, corporate actions and currency fluctuations in their performance calculations.

I have been asked by many customers how do I manage my Investments, so here is what I do.

OmniTrader does not provide sufficient information for the performance management of investments or the preparation of tax returns and so I use an application called SHARESIGHT to carry out this work. 

I use OmniTrader to analyse the market, and to find and manage all my trades along with all its other great capabilities but do not to use it do any of the bookkeeping or portfolio investment analysis. 

I use ANZshareTrade and Interactive Brokers to carry out all my broker trading instructions and then have all the trading contracts linked to SHARESIGHT which provides reports on my total performance including dividends and total return analysis.
